The accolade of the first ever employer of the month goes to Brown & Bancroft Interiors Ltd You can read more information on Brown & Bancroft and the benefits that using us for hiring and training their apprentices has brought to the company.
Brown & Bancroft Interiors Ltd is an independent fit-out and refurbishment specialist based in the North West. Owned and managed by Paul Brown, Jill Bancroft and Neil Fidler, the company promises a personal approach and total commitment to the outstanding delivery of interiors projects across the region.
Operating in all key business sectors including commercial office, retail, leisure, health and higher education, Brown & Bancroft has a proven track record of successfully completing schemes for the likes of Bruntwood, Ernst & Young, North West Ambulance Service, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Latham & Watkins and Bolton Market Place to name a few. In the past year the team has won in excess of 30 projects and delivered more than 400,000 sq ft of space on time, to budget and to the complete satisfaction of the client.
In 2015 Brown & Bancroft teamed up with Knowledge Web - Apprenticeships and launched its first apprenticeship scheme, a 12 month programme designed to give trainees Emma Hesden and Ryan King a valuable insight into all aspects of the business.
Paul Brown, managing director at Brown & Bancroft, said;
As a relatively new business we saw the apprenticeship scheme as a great opportunity for us to engage with the local community by giving young people in Bolton a chance to kick start their careers in the construction sector. Both Emma and Ryan have already made an extremely positive impact on the team and we’ve been really impressed with their ‘can do’ attitude as well as the skills that they have brought into the company.
“We are well aware that our people are key to our success and as a result we are committed to the continual development of our team. We have handpicked the very best workplace and construction experts to help build our business and the apprentices will be working alongside these professionals on a daily basis. As a result, the team will be able to pass on their in-depth industry knowledge to two very capable trainees and give them a fantastic experience of working in a young, dynamic business. It is our hope that over the coming year Emma and Ryan will develop roles within our company that will continue once the formal apprenticeship programme has ended and provide them with a solid foundation upon which to build their careers.
“Working with Knowledge Web was vital in getting our apprenticeship scheme up and running and we are incredibly grateful for the support they have given us every step of the way. From taking a detailed brief and developing the job descriptions right through to advertising the roles and interviewing candidates on our behalf, the company’s pro-active approach and good local connections has given us great confidence in them and we’ve not been disappointed. What’s more, now that Emma and Ryan have started, our partnership with Knowledge Web continues as a way of mapping their progress and ensuring the programme runs smoothly.”
Ryan King, commercial assistant at Brown & Bancroft, added: “Accepting an apprenticeship with Brown & Bancroft was an easy decision for me, I really felt that getting straight into a business and gaining real hands on experience was key to building a promising career for myself. Brown & Bancroft is a really exciting company to be a part of and I already feel I have learnt so much. At the moment I am concentrating on working with the commercial team so I have been heavily involved in compiling the pricing documents and tenders, but I look forward to broadening my knowledge base when the time comes to try my hand at a different area of the business.”
